One of our seven private offices in The Hive opened up!

Come work ‘alone, together’ with us! 

Office available ‘in’ The Hive! 
We have seven offices here in The Hive and one of them just opened up!  These offices are great if you like to feel part of the coworking space but need some privacy.  They are approximately 10’X11′ and are private and lockable but because The Hive is in the old boiler room (yes, there was a Corliss System here) our ceilings are very high so there isn’t sound privacy but they are lockable and private.  We have office furniture if you need it but you’re also welcome to make it beautiful and your own.  Please reach out to me at tunischartner@gmail.com or just respond to this email if you’re interested.  These offices are $350 per month and only require a ‘last month’ deposit so are month to month vs. a year or more lease.  We have a breakroom with a full sized refrigerator/freezer, a microwave and we provide coffee/tea. As you know from these emails, we have monthly events including art shows, have a waterfall right outside our door and have miles and miles of walking/biking/running trails in Ryan Park right behind us!

Speaker Series starts next Tuesday, 2/7 noon-1:00

We are so excited to have events starting back up at The Hive RI beginning with our new monthly speaker series next Tuesday, February 7th.  

🎤 ☕️  Burnout, Self-Regulation & Nervous System Health with Coral Brown Come learn and enjoy a very relaxed conversation at The Hive RI next Tuesday, February 7th from noon-1:00.  Bring your lunch and we’ll provide delicious artisan roasted coffee from our friends at North Koffee (some treats too).  More information on our mill community member and co-owner of Island Heron Yoga, Coral Brown, here. More about Sean: “I serve as Director of the PhD and MA in Humanities and Technology at Salve Regina University. The programs encompass the relationship between Science/Technology and the Humanities/Liberal Arts.  Most of my own personal research is conducted in the fields of Human/Cognitive Enhancement, Transhumanism, the Techno human, International Relations and Theology/Religious Studies.”

🧘‍♀️ South County Reflexology is our featured community member/business: Claudia is truly an amazing healer and teacher and we are lucky because she expanded her business last year to include Yoga and Reflexology Certification!  You can still enjoy the healing benefits of a Reflexology session with her (truly fantastic on SO many levels) or you can take one of her Yoga classes in her new upstairs space where she also teaches and offers certification programs in Reflexology.  *Both of her spaces are magical and I highly recommend you give either or all a try! 🎇 The Hive RI’s New Year BUZZ! 🎇

Happy New Year!

2023 means it’s time to start planning our 10 year anniversary! 

It’s hard to believe that we are now in our 10th year!  We started The Hive RI (very casually) in the Spring of 2013 with a handful of our friends & colleagues, a website that Larry built for us (with great SEO because people started finding us right away) and some donated furniture.  I continued inviting people (many of you I’m sure) to come by for a tour, work with us or send others that might find working ‘alone together’ beneficial.  We had the official Ribbon Cutting with the Southern RI Chamber of Commerce and over 50 people in September of 2013 and the rest is community building history!  I’m going to be working on gathering stories about the amazing people and businesses that continue to be such an important part of our community here at The Hive RI and the Mill at Lafayette and sharing them throughout the year.

As I’ve been starting to reflect, I’ve been so excited to realize the impact and success that we’ve been able to support.   #TogetherWeAreStronger and COMMUNITY has never been more important!  Thank you to you all!

🗞 We are excited to announce that we are continuing to grow our community here at The Hive and Mill – whether that is new businesses moving in or existing businesses expanding.  We are continuing to update the Mill website now that I’m back fully (it definitely didn’t get much love and attention during my 3 years in those executive director roles) and we still have dozens of businesses to add to the directory.  If you’re reading this and are one of our community members that is NOT in the directory, please email me.

🐝 The Hive’s 7 offices are currently taken but we only have one person on the waiting list so please reach out if you’re interested in being added to that list.  Just FYI, we do have room for coworking members in our open coworking space. 

🖼 We continue to serve as a community based art gallery and love the sea creatures that are adorning our walls this Summer by Joann Seddon.  Please feel free to stop by for a self guided tour or reach out if you’d like to schedule a meeting with Joann regarding purchasing any of her art or commissioning a piece.  She is currently busy managing her busy flower and vegetable farm and chickens in Charlestown at Cluckingham Palace but is also pecking away (pun intended) at a new series of art with driftwood found on local beaches.
