Historical Walking Tour with Tim Cranston, part of the Town of North Kingstown’s 350th on Saturday, July 13th. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us for this lively walking tour around the Lafayette Mill complex. Along the way you will learn about the Mill’s founder and original owner, Robert Rodman, and how he and the hundreds of folks who lived in the village lived their lives. We will also touch upon topics like the Industrial Revolution, the differences between a southern RI mill village and other mill villages in New England, and the Negro Goods trade. The walk will begin at The Hive RI (the original boiler room!) which is across the parking lot from the waterfall behind the main Lafayette Mill building (in case you haven’t been before) and we’ll be circling through this remarkable place – one of the very best examples of a southern Rhode Island mill village.
